But, I ended up getting so absorbed into the learning curve and spending so long on it, that the majority of the FNAF fandom had been and gone. I eventually deviated from the storyboard entirely and made most of the animation up as I went along, enjoying the spontaneity and experimentation, adding scenes just to explore atmosphere and animation. While that added an extra year to the making and probably lost a fair bit of FNAF fan views as a consequence, I can say I've learnt more about animation, drawing, sound design and backgrounds in this project than any other. One contribution to that has to be the absence of model sheets and anything to restrict developing the way I draw and animate; the whole cartoon could've just looked as crude as the first scenes I animated (you can probably tell which those are). A lot of dialogue was also improvised which added to the experimentation and fun; working with amateur voice actors without scripts is fun 'cause usually it sounds closer to a typical conversation than with a script. Another lesson learnt from this is the dangers of putting art before marketability. This IS a parody of Five Nights At Freddy's after all, and yet here it is 2 years later than it should've been released for the views. But by the time I uploaded the trailer, I knew it was too late to complete the animation in time for that, so I took a massive diversion away from empathy for the game's lore and hasty production, and towards simply making a fun cartoon and putting my all into it. I'm still glad I made this though because I have learnt so much making this, and I look forward to making more cartoons. Although in future, I don't fancy making cartoons quite so layered and complicated just for YouTube, after learning the hard-way how long these things take to make. I haven't proof read any of what I just said then 'cause that was all just a mental gush and hopefully my excitement for the completion of this cartoon shows through!
