Fishing and Relaxing

I caught nothing, i'm not that surprised to be honest. There was no sign of fish or water creature in this pond. But the water felt so good that i just don't mind sitting here holding the fishing rod, waiting for something that never come. It might sound boring but while i wait for something to happen, i looking around and think of this place that i'm in. It suppose to be a hidden spot deep in the forest.. privately owned i suppose. It hasn't been touched in a long time. The pond however still looks fresh and somehow maintain itself. It didn't turn into a muddy mess, it remains clear and fresh... one of those oddities that i might never understand. listening to a still working hand crank music player, i take off my boots and dip my foot into the water and just kind of enjoy fishing for nothing, though in the end i did get some fruit that just happens to floats by the pond. I should do this in the ocean sometimes in the future.

Война в Украине...

Я живой. Идет война.

Два дня назад мы с товарищем Шэдоу направились к позиции, окруженной русскими танками, в небольшом лесу.

На месте из маленькой, убогой и грязной траншеи нас с улыбкой встретили два украинских солдата. Один из солдат даже немного говорил по-французски. Я сказал Шэдоу оставаться в окопе, даже если это скучно.

Двое украинских солдат вышли из окопа покурить. Я сказал им бросить сигареты и вернуться в укрытие, пока я буду искать позиции русских танков. Они не прислушались и даже приблизились к опушке леса, пытаясь показать мне расположение русских танков. Я сказал им, чтобы они немедленно вернулись в укрытие, и прекратили выставлять себя напоказ. К счастью, они меня послушались и вернулись покурить рядом с траншеей: не захотели идти в окоп.

Мое солдатское чутье подсказывало мне выдвигаться, потому что двое нерадивых солдат могли были быть обнаружены тепловизионным оборудованием вражеских танков.

Двадцать секунд спустя я был в 15 футах (~4.5 метра) от солдат. Наблюдая через бинокль, меня потряс мощный взрыв. Мимо меня проносилась шрапнель, словно угольки костра. Я был окутан дымом. Мое тело инстинктивно напряглось, и я ничего не слышал одним ухом.

Вернувшись на базу, мой друг Шэдоу не мог поверить что он выжил. У него не было травм. Взрыв повалил его на землю. У меня тоже не было травм. Ни единой царапины. Сегодня мое ухо в порядке, и я слышу нормально.

Пехотные процедуры и учения важны. Мы видим здесь яркий пример.

Рассказываю только об одном из событий недели. Мы нанесли врагу потери, но потеряли многих товарищей.

Здесь война. Настоящая.

War in Ukraine...

I am alive. It's a war here.

Two days ago, my comrade Shadow and I headed to a position surrounded by Russian tanks, in a small forest.

On the spot, two Ukrainian soldiers greeted us with a smile, from a small miserable and muddy trench. One of the soldiers even spoke a little French. I told Shadow to stay in the trench, even if it might sound boring.

The two Ukrainian soldiers came out of the trench to smoke. I told them to put off their cigarettes and go back to the shelter while I searched for the Russian tank position. They didn't listen and even ventured close to the forest edge, trying to show me the location of Russian tanks. I told them to come back immediately to the shelter and stop exposing themselves like this. Luckily they listened to me and came back to smoke next to the trench. They didn't want to go in the trench.

My reflex as a soldier was to move anyway because it was possible that the two careless soldiers had been detected by the thermal vision equipment of the enemy tanks.

Twenty seconds later, I was fifteen foot from the soldiers. I watched with my binoculars. A huge explosion shook me. Shrapnel streaked past me, like embers from a campfire. I was enveloped in smoke. My body instinctively tensed, as well as my face. I couldn't hear anything out of one ear.

I moved from cover to crawl into the trench and try to find the enemy tanks. I looked to my left. The two Ukrainian soldiers were lying on the ground. The scene was exactly like in a Hollywood war movie. A soldier was five foot from me. He was lying down and had no legs. The rest of the body was partly shredded. He was no longer moving.

Another trooper was three feet away from me. He had a ripped leg. His body was mutilated in several places. He was still breathing but took his last breath in front of me, a dozen seconds later. Russian tanks just kept shooting in our direction.

The story didn't end there but I'll tell you the rest later.

Back at the base, my friend Shadow couldn't believe his life was saved. He had no injuries. The explosion knocked him to the ground. I didn't have any injuries either. Not a single scratch. Today, my ear is doing great and I can hear normally.

Infantry procedures and drills are important. Here we see a striking example.

I tell you only one of the events of the week. We have inflicted casualties on the enemy but we have lost many comrades.

This is war. The real one.
