Вечная мерзлота, голод, беспокойство населения. Всё это вас ждёт в градостроительном симуляторе с элементами выживания Frostpunk. Студия 11 bit, авторы известной This War of Mine, продолжают исследовать человеческую натуру и ставить игрока перед трудным выбором. В своей новой игре, они вновь предлагают искать решение между голосом совести и практичностью ради выживания.
Действие Frostpunk происходит в альтернативной вселенной в 19 веке, где планета замерзла по неизвестным причинам. Большинство населения погибло, а последние выжившие пытаются научиться жить заново с поправкой на экстремальные условия. Игроку предстоит возглавить последний (возможно) город на Земле, построенный вокруг огромного генератора тепла. В ваших руках окажется безграничная власть и возможность построить общество таким, каким вы его себе представляете. Не стоит забывать о морали: развитие города состоит из череды тяжелых и противоречивых решений, которые могут не понравиться людям. В This War of Mine одной из таких ситуаций были дети на войне, а здесь речь пойдет о более приземленных вещах, но не менее сложных. Как поступить с людьми, пострадавшими на производстве? Допустимо ли использовать детский труд? Конечная цель — построить высокоорганизованное общество, подготовленное к суровым условиям и приспособленное к выживанию.
Игроку придется держать баланс. Создать универсальное общество и оставить всех довольными не получится. Важно не перейти определенную грань, после которой народ захочет вздернуть вас на дыбе. Да, бунты обязательно будут. Не избежать и неприглядных сторон людских поступков в экстремальной ситуации, вроде каннибализма.
Необходимо отслеживать два ключевых показателя: надежду и тревогу. Как только первый начнет падать, люди станут покидать город в поисках лучшей жизни. Если вырастет тревога — ждите импичмент и бунт. Судьба мятежников в руках игрока, возможно как помилование, так и насильственный исход. Как отметили разработчики, игра не просто так получила рейтинг 18+.
Мир Frostpunk не ограничен одним городом. Исследование прилегающих к нему территорий будет важной частью игрового процесса. Отряд за стенами сможет отыскать дополнительные ресурсы и помочь развитию полиса. Внешних врагов ждать не стоит: не будет ничего сверхъестественного, например ледяных зомби. Этот проект подобно This War of Mine делает акцент на внутренних вещах и ощущениях, давая возможность почувствовать себя лидером, взять ответственность за свои решения и принять последствия.
Frostpunk не бесконечный градостроительный сим вроде Cities Skyline. У этой истории есть начало и конец. Финал будет зависеть от принятых решений и позволит вам взглянуть на себя в зеркало, словно сквозь призму пройденного пути. Облик города также поможет в этом, он будет выглядеть по разному в зависимости от того, строили бы баррикады и укрепления, или постройки для повышения довольства населения. Если все закончилось плохо, значит вы что-то сделали не так и возможно, стоит попробовать снова.
Что касается ендгейма, после выживания и постройки города игроку придется принимать сложные политические решения, которые могут привести к расколу сообщества.
