Arknights: Escape from Chernobog (Midjourney film),Gaming,Arknights,Midjourney,AI art,"Arknights: Escape from Chernobog is the first in a series of interconnected anime OVAs released in the early and mid-1990s. The various films were directed by several people including Takashi Watanabe, Koichi Ohata, Yoshiaki Kawajiri, and Masamune Shirow. Despite the disconnected production, they remained remarkably consistent lore-wise, though the setting is infamous for defying genre classification. 1992's Escape from Chernobog acts as an introduction to the world. Most major cities, including the titular Chernobog, are built on giant mobile platforms intended to keep them out of reach from periodic "Disasters", weather events that leave behind Originum crystals, both very valuable and highly toxic. Notably, Originum serves as this setting's equivalent of gunpowder, resulting in the paucity of firearms and comparative increase in reliance on melee weapons, bows, and even magic spells that make the setting so unique. Originum infection can imbue the victim with various superhuman abilities, but in the long term it causes organ failure, mental disorders, and finally, death. Originum infected face contempt and discrimination worldwide, particularly in the Empire of Ursus, which includes Chernobog. The film is set in the backdrop of a revolt organized by the Infected terrorist organization "Reunion". A team of Volunteers, specially trained fighters from the Medicinal agency "Rhodes Island" must navigate the urban chaos and a looming Disaster as they follow the trail of an unnamed Doctor who went missing researching a cure for the infection. In America, English dubs of the Arknights films were released haphazardly by the various anime distribution companies that sprung up to try and cash in on the anime market. As a result, Escape from Chernobog shared the fate of other films in the series by having a notoriously bad dub that mangled the backstory, altered most of the character's names, included out of place pop culture references, and generally tried to play the film off as a comedy. After a brief moment of amusement from Western 'otaku', the series generally vanished from memory due to minimal distribution. The film acts as a prequel by telling the combined story of several minor recurring Rhodes Island Volunteers set during the events of Escape From Chernobog. Specifically, it concerns the origins of the all-girl "Ursus Student Self-government group". Most are students of Peterheim middle school. They, and students from around the city, are forcefully relocated to the school by Reunion forces as a way to manage dissent and take hostages. However, Reunion maintains a loose grip on the school beyond guarding any way out. Indeed, the primary antagonists are other students, driven to desperate straits by the dwindling supply of food on school grounds and the rest of the city towards the end. The film garnered a notorious reputation for its uncharacteristically gruesome content and dark tone compared to the rest of the series. It is revealed that the chaos mentioned earlier on in the film which finally lets Zima's group escape was caused by the rescue squad's failed attempt to enter the school. Amid the carnage, she finds incontrovertible evidence that her father perished. Her uncomfortable reunion with Zima and the others at Rhodes Island sometime later ends the film. 5:15 BONUS: Beehunter Today I learned Midjourney doesn't like monocles or eyes that are red/orange, semi-recognizes hair streaks, and putting "bear ears" sometimes results in out of place stuffed bears appearing like with Gummy, same thing happened when I put "horse ears" for Nearl and got images of a woman on horseback.
