The Hunter’s Reverie Intro ~ You start injured, and wandering an endless desert. Regardless of the direction you travel you will run into a cloaked figure pulling a makeshift pram. Approaching causes the figure to become hostile. Your attacks are weak and rarely land as the figure is very nimble. They will inevitably incapacitate the player causing the screen to fade to black. (If you manage to prolong the fight long enough the figure will start using eldritch attacks and you will gain insight.) Hunter’s Reverie ~ You wake up in the reverie (which will now serve the same purpose as the dream) and the Doll stands patiently in front of you. She begs you to help i her free us all from the scourge of the beast, to ‘seek the ring of blood’ - an instruction she admits to understand no more than you do. i She gifts you an Old hunter pistol and a Tarnished cannula. You are now free to begin the game proper. _______________________________ ; _ In_the early game she refuses to let you see inside her pram. If you keep trying with your weapon drawn she will eventually relent. The player looks in and gains 20 insight j | and is damaged 50% HP (which is not reset when you start in the first area).__ If you attack her she will easily dodge, pulled away by an unseen force. Attack many times and she will apologise and ask if you wish to leave this place. Continuing to attack, she will say it was selfish of her to bring you here, curtsy, and you will be booted into the game’s main menu.____________________________ Throughout the Game ~_______ If you stand in front of her for long enough she will perform the 'make contact' gesture. If you gesture a clap in return, she will giggle and you will gain 1 insight._ Further into the game when you have built trust with the doll, she offers you an old hunter weapon. This could be based on previous save data or simply a weapon that corresponds to the highest of your current stats. __________________________________________________________________________________ ; You can bring her certain clothes found in Loran. She will thank you and may be seen wearing them on your next visit. She will gift you the lumenflower brooch after 1 enough of these gifts. This offers very high blood defense and poison defence. _________ i If you complete enough of these optional interactions with her she will become summonable for late game bosses (save for your final encounter). _________________ j You may also hear extra dialogue; some describing childhood memories of a castle, some seeking forgiveness for actions they didn’t take._________________________________

Early Loran There is some deep booming disturbance in the depths of Loran. The sprawling ruins are becoming exposed as sand drains away beneath the city. The sand darkens to a blood-red the deeper into the city you explore.________________________________ I You fight a variety of Ixodida that have infested the city and languish in the exposed sun-bathed areas. They are your primary source of blood sacs. Inside the old shadowy structures lurk Loran beasts; vicious creatures with claws, pincers, exoskeletons and teeth. Deeper still and rarer are Pthumerians that attack only when you try to pass them (or attack them yourself). l Interacting with doorways sometimes yeilds unidentifiable groans or mumbles.______________________ | The chest to the left requires a heavy attack to open. It yields the Tendon Sabre.___________________________ i | Crystallised Ixodida are rare and nimble variants that escape very quickly. If the player can catch them with a ranged attack they will drop blood gems/blood stones. Mechanics ~ ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Blood sacs perform the role of blood vials. They require a cannula to use.__________________________________________________________________________________ A single cannula is equipped at all times. They are upgradable and modify the effect of using a blood sac. Some examples:___________________________________ •larger but slower HP increase. Your heals will last longer in the field but can’t be relied on to save you mid-combat. Can be used prematurely to make up for damage you have yet to take.____________ » smaller but far more rapid HP increase. Your heals are weaker but very effective mid-combat._______________________________________________ I * temporary buffs to damage, speed or defense. You could use one with full health for the buff alone. The most skilled players that can risk 'wasting' blood sacs are rewarded with faster or more vicious combat. ______________________________________________________________________________________
Tendon Sabre A vicious blade used to sever the achilles. Crafted by the Loranites in their desperate fight against the growing scourge. In its contracted one-handed state, it is a fast and effective grappling tool, allowing enemy manipulation and disarming.___________________________________________________________________ When expanded it is wielded with two hands. With its extended reach it assumes a more defensive role, incapacitating enemies from a distance.______ _____________________________________
